Sand City Is Worth Getting Right I bought my home on Ocean View Avenue in 2020 and this community has been everything I hoped it would be. I run boats on the bay, I write books to help kids fall in love with this coastline, and I've stood up at council meetings for six years speaking up for my neighbors and fellow business owners. I want to serve on this council because I believe good environmental policy and good fiscal policy are usually the same policy. Smart development, lower costs for residents, and protecting what makes Sand City worth living in are not competing ideas. They are the same idea. I can't imagine living anywhere better. As a council member, I intend to serve this community the way I've always tried to, by showing up.
Sand City has room to grow, but growth should happen within our existing developed footprint—not at the expense of our dunes and open space. I support mixed-use development, live/work spaces, infill housing, accessory dwelling units, and a mix of market-rate and affordable homes.
I support completing the Coastal Trail and Multi-Use Commuter Trail, linking our neighborhoods to the Monterey Bay Coastal Recreation Trail and future MST SURF! transit station. The Coastal Trail should include dune restoration, protecting habitat while improving public access.
I want to work with residents, businesses, public agencies, and regional utilities toward lower-cost, better-managed water. I support the MST SURF! transit project, undergrounding power lines, stormwater improvements, and cost-effective electrification.
I support living wages, lower-cost childcare, and fair wages in development. Sand City's tax base gives us resources, but those resources require careful management. I want transparent decisions about city services, measuring long-term value and service quality for residents.
